Rubber Fenders
High performance rubber fender systems for various applications, typically in areas with low variation in water level. Fixed Fenders are mostly equipped with steel panels to allow for a low hull pressure.
The SPC Cone Fender is an efficient rubber fender type that is used in various applications. It has a conical body and fully rubber-embedded mounting flanges. Its refined geometry and conical shape result in a number of outstanding performance characteristics.
SPC Cone Fenders are available in heights between 300 and 2,000 mm, each in 3 different main rubber grades, optional: overload stoppers to avoid over compression
Characteristics
Exceptionally good energy absorption to reaction force ratio (E/R)
The CSS Cell Fender is a well established rubber fender type, with a hollow cylindrical body and fully rubber-embedded mounting flanges. It is designed to deflect in an axial direction up to 52,5% (design deflection).
CSS Cell Fenders are available in heights between 400 and 3,000 mm, each in 3 different main rubber grades.
Characteristics
Easy assembly & installation
Good shear force resistance
Cost-effective: large footprint leads to a good load distribution over the front panel, which results in a lighter panel construction
The FE Element Fenders are fully molded rubber legs with embedded mounting plates. Based on V Fenders but with separate legs, FE Element Fender provide high layout flexibilities when installed behind steel panels or where mounting space is limited.
FE Element Fenders are available in heights between 250 and 1,600 mm, in standard lengths ranging from 500 to 2,000 mm, each in 3 different main rubber grades.
Characteristics
Good energy absorption to reaction force ratio (E/R)
High energy absorption per fender weight
Modular and compact design with small footprint
Vertical and horizontal mounting, typically in pairs
Special Element Fender combine rubber FE Element Fenders with UHMW-PE frontal plates and belt deflector if necessary. They are a cost effective alternative for certain applications compared to steel panels. Special Element Fender are very common in the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea or the Mediterranean Sea.
Special Element Fenders are available in different sizes / widths and with different colors of UHMW-PE frontal plates.
Charcteristics
Economical alternative to steel panels
Flexible fender system
Low friction facing
Applications
Container & Bulk Terminals
Jetties and berths for small and medium size vessels
Parallel Motion Fenders are individually engineered systems and could be designed with different rubber fender units, but typically with Cone Fenders, Cell Fenders or Element Fenders.
A turning lever arm (torsion arm) is mounted between the back structure (concrete or steel) and the frontal steel panel. The arm restrains the panel movement during the entire fender compression, allowing it to move only parallel to its mounting, irrespective of impact level and angle.
Parallel Motion Fender systems have to be uniquely designed for each project in order to cover all the individual vessel and berthing requirements as well as the site conditions. The Parallel Motion Fender system can be delivered pre-assembled, depending on size.
Characteristics
Equal energy absorption capacity at any impact level
The torsion resistant arm of the system allows only parallel panel movments and eliminates a secound ship/panel contact
Reaction forces could be substantially lower for back-to-back rubber unit configuration
Lower reaction forces lead to lower hull pressures and lighter substructure, which reduces the overall project cost
Pile Fenders are a common alternative to Parallel Motion Fenders and could be designed with different rubber fender units, but typically with Cone Fenders, Cell Fenders, Element Fenders or V Fenders. The pile foot rotates around a level well below water whereby the lower tip of the fender is fixed either into a shoe on the seabed or by welding a support bracket to the substructure. Pile Fenders can ensure a single point contact between the vessel and fender system at any water level. The energy absorbing rubber unit is typically positioned close to main sea level and provides the energy at all levels. The panel itself is typically inclined to follow the vessel belting and level deviations between unladen and fully laden conditions at all water levels.
Pile Fenders are widely used in Northern Europe.
Pile Fender systems have to be uniquely designed for each project in order to cover all the individual vessel and berthing requirements as well as the site conditions.
Characteristics
Single ship/panel contact design
Possible savings in substructures with existing quay walls
Can cope with high impact levels and low deck levels
Applications
Container & Bulk Terminals
Oil & Gas Terminals
Ferry & RoRo Terminals
Terminals with sheet pile walls or pile structures with concrete capping beams
The V Fender is a rigid and simple molded one piece rubber fender type. V Fenders are available in different cross sections, SX and SH. The main difference is the width of the fender head and resulting surface load. Each type can be equipped with an additional embedded steel plate in the rubber fender head (SX-P and SH-P). This allows the installation of an UHMW-PE frontal plate, a steel fender panel or the mounting of the fender unit behind a pile construction.
Both V Fenders (SX and SH) are available in standard heights from 250 to 1,000 mm, in standard length ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 mm, each in 3 different main rubber grades.
SX FENDERS The SX Fender is the standard V Fender in the traditional one piece design.
SX-P FENDERS The SX-P Fender has an embedded steel plate and can therefore be equipped with an UHMW-PE frontal plate or a steel panel or be integrated into another structure.
SH FENDERS The SH Fender has a wider frontal face than the SX Fender resulting in a lower surface load.
SH-P FENDERS The SH-P Fender has an embedded steel plate and can therefore be equipped with an UHMW-PE frontal plate or a steel panel or be integrated into another structures.

The Cylindrical Fender was the first rubber fender type to be produced with a defined performance. Installation is simple by using chains, bars, ropes or specially designed ladder brackets, depending on the fender size and substructure. The Cylindrical Fenders‘ proportional increase of reaction force and energy absorption all the way to the rated deflection is an advantage resulting in softer berthing.
Cylindrical Fenders are available extruded and wrapped, depending on the size. They are available in outside diameter up to 2,700 mm and inside diameter ranging from 50 to 1,300 mm, variable in length up to 20 m. The length is mainly limited by handling and transport and typically, very long Cylindrical Fenders are used for tug boat bows and are often split in 3 sections. All Cylindrical Fenders could be delivered with the respective fixings (chains, brackets, support bar, ladder brackets).

PE Sliding Plates and Fenders
Plates and Fenders made from Polyethylene which combine impact strength with high abrasion resistance and low friction. They can be used for many applications in the marine environment.
Ultra-high-molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) Sliding Plates are typically made from double sintered Polyethylene (a blend of reclaimed and virgin material). 100% virgin material is also available. The superior physical and mechanical properties result in highest strength with wear resistance and consequently provides the best durabilty of all available Polyethylene products. The vast majority of steel fender panels are equipped with UHMW-PE Sliding Plates.
The manufacturing process limits the cross-sections and plate dimensions.
Typically UHMW-PE Sliding Fenders are available in thicknesses from 2 mm to 200 mm for regenerated material and 2 mm to 400 mm for virgin material. Plate sizes range from 1,000 x 1,000 mm up to 6,000 mm x 2,500 mm.
The standard color is black. Other colors such as green, yellow, white or red are available upon request.
High-density polyethylene (HD-PE) Sliding Fenders are made by extrusion from recycled Polyethylene with glass fiber reinforcement for high strength and impact resistance. Compared to other materials such as e.g. timber the advantage of HD-PE is its low friction and better wear properties.
HD-PE Sliding Fenders are available in cross sections from 50 mm to 440 mm (height) and from 50 mm up to max. 300 mm (width) in different combinations. Lengths range from 2000 mm to 6500 mm.
