LAURENCE HARBOR
WASTEWATER
FACILITY

The Project

Laurence Harbor

The Old Bridge Municipal Utilities Authority, located on Raritan Bay needed to protect the Laurence Harbor Wastewater Facility from future storm surge. Fiberglass seawalls and fiberglass walers were selected to help accomplish this task. The project included driving 2 separate sheet pile walls as part of the 700 linear foot retaining wall and 650 linear foot anchor wall that both utilized the fiberglass seawall and fiberglass walers.

The structure was later backfilled, a concrete walkway was poured on top and rip rap stone placed in front along the shoreline. An additional 765 linear foot flood control wall was driven closer to the facility as a second line of defense and then capped using FRP Channel.

What the Project Superintendent Says

”This was the first time I had worked with fiberglass reinforced sheet pile. Lee Composites not only provided a great product, but also the support and knowledge required to get the job done. They assisted in value engineering and design so that we were able to eliminate the need for a galvanized C-Channel waler system. This helped to reduce material costs and accelerated the installation of the flood walls. They worked with me to coordinate the delivery of the FRP sheet pile and fiberglass waler and provided it ahead of the quoted lead times which allowed JFC to stay on schedule. I look forward to working with them again.”
